The Cairo Symphony Orchestra announces the following Vacancies to be filled by the beginning of 2024/2025 Season:

Double Bass: 2^nd Principal (to perform Alternative and  Cooperative)

                          Requirements:

                       1. Classical Concerto (Dittersdorf, Vanhal or Dragonetti)                    

                       2. Concerto by Bottesini

                       3. Orchestra Excerpts

Double Bass: (advance Tutti, Vorspieler):

                          Requirements:
                      1. Classic concerto,
                      2. 1 piece candidate choice + orchestra parts   

Second Bassoon: (50% Contract)

                       Requirements:

1.    Mozart Concerto

2.    Another work at Candidate’s Choice  

3.    Orchestra Excerpts   

French Horn: 2^nd/4^th Horn (Low Horn)

                       Requirements:

1.    Mozart Concerto No. 3 K. 447

2.    Beethoven Sonata in F Op. 17

3.    Orchestra Excerpts  

2^nd Flute: (50% Contract) with Obligation to Piccolo

                       Requirements:

1.    Mozart Concerto No. 1 or 2

2.    Another work at Candidate’s Choice  

3.    Orchestra Excerpts   

Viola Assistant Principal:

                       Requirements:

1.    Stamitz/Hofmeister

2.    Bartok, Walton or Hindemith

3.     Orchestra Excerpts

Violoncello: 2^nd assistant Principal + 2 advanced Tutti (Vorspieler)

                (Open also for current members of the Cello Group of CSO)

                       Requirements:

1.    Haydn Cello concerto in D major 

2.    Romantic Concerto

3.    Orchestra Excerpts  

Oboe Assistant Principal:

                         Requirements:

                  1. Mozart Oboe Concerto 1st & 2nd mov
                  2. Strauss Oboe Concerto 1th mov

2nd Assistant Concertmaster:

                        Requirements:

                     1.Mozart concerto 3,4,5, 1th movement with cadenza
                     2.Big romantic concerto 1th mov with cadenza + orchestra part 

Auditions:

 will take place on Tuesday, November 05, 2024, at 02.00 pm.

Orchestra Excerpts will be announced 2 Weeks before the Auditions.
